South Korean MC Ding Dong accused of assaulting female streamer during livestream
The incident happened on Wednesday during an “Excel broadcast,” a livestream format in which participants are ranked by donation amounts in a spreadsheet-style display, according to Chosun Biz.
During the broadcast, the streamer performed a rap mocking Ding Dong’s past drunk-driving and hit-and-run case.
Apparently enraged by the remarks, Ding Dong got up, ran toward her, grabbed her by the hair and attacked her, with the entire incident airing live online.

Ding Dong left the scene afterward but returned shortly later to apologize on camera.
“I apologize for showing unprofessional behavior. I once again apologize to viewers and the BJs (streamers). I can accept any insults directed at me, but when I heard the ‘incident from two years ago’ mentioned, it triggered psychological trauma and made me think of my children, so I lost control,” Ding Dong said, in tears.
“I had no work for a year and a half, and I was finally trying to show everyone that I am living diligently again,” he added.
He bowed repeatedly while apologizing and said: “I will never drive after drinking alcohol again.”
According to SBS Starthe victim later said in an online community post that she is receiving psychiatric treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and panic symptoms. She was also diagnosed with injuries requiring two weeks of recovery.
“I have hired a lawyer and filed a complaint against MC Ding Dong for assault,” she said.
In 2022, Ding Dong was arrested in Seoul for driving while heavily intoxicated, refusing a breathalyzer test and fleeing the scene. During the escape, his vehicle collided with a police car.
He was prosecuted for drunk driving and obstruction of official duties causing injury. He was sentenced to one year and six months in prison with a two-year probation period.
MC Ding Dong, 46, was a ninth-generation comedian from South Korean national television and radio network SBS. He was once known as the “No.1 supporting MC” and the “Yoo Jae-suk of supporting MCs,” and frequently hosted events.
Following the scandal, he withdrew from supporting MC roles on KBS programs such as Immortal Songs and You Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.
