SP gets strengthened in UP, Naseemuddin Siddiqui joins the party
In Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party inducted Naseemuddin Siddiqui. His arrival may strengthen SP’s hold on the Muslim vote bank in western UP. Akhilesh Yadav welcomed and boosted the political enthusiasm of the party.
UP Politics: Political equations have started changing before the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party (SP) has recently included Naseemuddin Siddiqui, considered a stalwart among the Muslim leaders of Western UP, in the party. Questions are being raised regarding this joining whether Naseemuddin will be able to fill the void of Azam Khan and SP will get benefit in Muslim vote bank.
With the arrival of Naseemuddin Siddiqui, SP may get strength in Western UP. It is believed that in this area, a part of the Muslim votes which earlier went to Congress and BSP, may now shift towards SP. This may increase the electoral prospects of the party.
Akhilesh Yadav’s reaction
The enthusiasm of the party was worth seeing while joining the Samajwadi Party hall. When Akhilesh Yadav was questioned about Naseemuddin Siddiqui replacing Azam Khan, he took a tough stance. He said that BJP people have demolished about 100 temples in the past and they will have to suffer for this sin.
Akhilesh Yadav also said that everyone sitting in the hall knows Azam Khan and injustice has been done to him. The public and the party all want Azam Khan to get justice. He said for Naseemuddin that he also knows that Azam Khan is a big leader.
Political strategy regarding Muslim votes
In UP, SP also faced a challenge regarding Muslim votes. On one hand, SP is forming PDA, while AIMIM is also preparing to strengthen its hold in the state. The name of Naseemuddin Siddiqui has been considered influential in the Muslim community. With his inclusion, SP is trying to gain a strong position in Muslim votes.
On Owaisi and AIMIM entering Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav said that he has no worries, and whether they come on bicycles or in some other way, SP will move ahead in its political journey.
BJP targeted
BJP has reacted to this joining. Party spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said that Naseemuddin Siddiqui will not be able to do anything special and now the electoral equation will focus on Muslim votes. He also said that it is not yet clear what the political picture will be in the future considering the role of allies within the party.
