SP strict in crime review meeting, said – delay in action will not be tolerated
Lohardaga. To maintain law and order in the district in view of the New Year 2026, Superintendent of Police Sadiq Anwar Rizvi held a crime review meeting with police officers on Wednesday. SP directed that the New Year should be welcomed in the district in a peaceful, safe and cordial environment.
He directed to keep the security arrangements tight at all picnic spots and tourist places, to conduct constant patrolling and to take seriously the possibility of any criminal or accident. The SP asked to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules by running an intensive vehicle checking campaign. Instructions were given to keep special vigil on driving under the influence of alcohol, without helmet and overloading. An appeal was also made to the common citizens to celebrate the New Year with peace and security.
SP Rizvi said in clear words that no laxity or delay in police action against serious crimes will be tolerated. Quick and effective action against criminals is the primary responsibility of the police. In the meeting, a detailed review of the cases registered in police stations across the district, pending cases, warrants, seizures and arrests was done.
Special campaign on gambling, alcohol and anti-social activities
SP directed to run a special campaign against gambling, illicit liquor and other anti-social activities. Orders were given to all police station in-charges to take time bound action regarding speedy disposal of pending cases. He said that to strengthen the judicial process, both quality and speed in investigation are necessary.
Emphasis on discipline and accountability
The SP said that discipline and accountability are paramount in the police force. Responsibility for maintaining law and order will be fixed at every level and strict action will be taken against any kind of negligence. He called for making the district crime free by working with team spirit.
Review on eradication of extremism
In the meeting, the action being taken towards eradication of extremism along with crime control was also reviewed. The SP directed to keep a close watch on Naxal activities, strengthen the intelligence system and increase vigilance in sensitive areas.
Strictness on criminals, friendly behavior towards public
The SP directed to be strict towards criminals and adopt friendly, sensitive and cooperative behavior towards the general public. He said that effective control of crime is possible only with better coordination between the police and the public.
Appreciation of those who do better work
During the meeting, the SP praised the better performing stations and police officers, while the weak performing stations were given clear instructions for improvement.
Special strictness on women harassment and warrant execution
Special review was done of serious cases like harassment of women, murder, theft and housebreaking. The SP directed to give top priority to the arrest of absconding accused and execution of pending warrants. It was asked to take immediate action in the cases related to harassment of women and SC-ST Act and submit the charge sheet to the court on time, so that the victims can get speedy justice.
SDPO Vedant Shankar, DSP Sameer Tirkey, Police Legal Advisor Vivek Kumar along with all the police station and OP in-charges of the district and other police officers were present in the meeting.
