Spanish Super Cup: Barcelona destroy Real Madrid to secure their 15th Super Cup
New Delhi: Are you entertained yet? I am sure you are because Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have juzt managed to add yet another memorable game to their long list of top notch battles over the years. The El Classico, as they like to call it, produced yet another big result in the final of the Spanish Super Cup as FC Barcelona lifted the trophy after a dominant display against the Los Blancos, winning the game 5-2. Despite having a stronger start to the match, Madrid’s direct and sharp counterattack, which culminated in Kylian Mbappe’s neat finish into the bottom corner, put Hansi Flick’s team behind after just five minutes.
After a Barcelona corner, Vinicius steals the ball from Marc Casado and sprints forward on the break before bringing Mbappe into action. The France international creates some space ahead of Alejandro Balde after a few stepovers and puts a low shot into the bottom corner. However, the La Liga champs were only able to maintain their lead for 17 minutes when Lamine Yamal scored a low finish into the far post after they were unable to halt him in full flow. The Spain international cut inside before Aurelian Tchouameni after getting the better of Ferland Mendy, and he had the foresight to roll his strike back across the goal and into the far corner.
Inigo Martinez had to make his way out of the game and was replaced by Ronald Araujo in the first half itself. In the 35th minute, Eduardo Camavinga gave away a foul inside his box, gifting a penalty to Barcelona which was scored without any hesitation by Robert Lewandowski. Just three minutes later, it was Barca’s star man Raphinha who scored the third making it 3-1 in the first half after somehow heading it past Courtois. The added time in the first 45 saw yet another late goal in the first half as Alex Balde also joined the scoring party to make it 4-1 for Barcelona at half time.

An unmarked Rodrygo smacks his shot off the outside of the post from within the penalty area after Vinicius squirmed free of Kounde and clipped a cross to the far post ahead of the byline sparking an early attack in the second half, Just seconds after, Barcelona promptly resumed play. Casado played a sharp pass through the lines for Raphinha. The Brazilian raced his way and then that to create space ahead of Rudiger and Tchouameni before sending a confident finish past Courtois after beating the defenders to make 5-1.
It was game over for Real Madrid but there came a dramatic moment when Barcelona went down to 10 men after their keeper Szczesny was sent off in the 56th minute. Moments later, Rodrygo scored a fantastic free kick to make it 5-2 for Real Madrid. After that goal, Real managed produce no real threat, failing to take the man advantage in the last 34 minutes of the game and Barcelona added yet another trophy to their cabinet.

There were a numerous candidates who put their heart and soul into the game for their side but Raphinha was just outstanding with his brace and assist in that game. He has now made it 28 goal contributions in all competition this season for Barcelona and there is just no stopping him at this point. He just keeps on delivering the goods for the Catalan giants and Hansi Flick will be looking to make the most out of his current form. Truly a fantastic player who is enjoying the season of his career as he lifts his fifth trophy with Barcelona.
