Special campaign in villages before UP Panchayat elections, pension deprived people will get benefits
Pilibhit. Preparations have been made to run a special campaign at the rural level before the upcoming Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. The objective of this campaign is to extend the benefits of important social security schemes like old age, disabled people and widow pension to those people who due to some reason have been deprived of it till now. The focus of the administration is to ensure that genuine eligible beneficiaries receive pension on time and any irregularities are removed.
Emphasis on terrestrial and archival verification
Under this campaign, on-site (by visiting the spot) and archival (on the basis of documents) verification of pensioners will be done by going from village to village. This will enable it to be ascertained as to which beneficiary is actually eligible and in which cases the pension has been withheld for wrong reasons. Besides, it will also be checked whether the records have not been updated even after the death of a beneficiary.
Panchayat secretaries got responsibility
In Pilibhit, District Panchayat Raj Officer (DPRO) Rohit Bharti has issued a letter to all the Panchayat Secretaries directing them to implement this campaign seriously. He has been asked to identify such beneficiaries in every Gram Panchayat of his area of work, who are not getting pension or whose pension has been stopped due to some reason.
DM’s instructions, no eligible person should be deprived
The District Magistrate of Pilibhit has also given verbal instructions that re-verification of all three types of pension schemes should be done through Gram Panchayat Secretaries. The District Magistrate clearly says that no eligible old age person, widow or disabled person should be deprived of pension merely due to technical or administrative reasons.
Closed pension cases will also be investigated
During the campaign, special attention will also be given to those cases in which the pension has been suddenly stopped or the beneficiary is not receiving the amount for a long time. Apart from this, the records of the beneficiaries whose death has already been reported will also be re-verified and corrected, so that no irregularities occur in future.
Villagers will get direct benefits
This special campaign is expected to directly benefit the needy people living in rural areas. Due to verification being done at the Panchayat level itself, they will not have to visit offices again and again and can be linked to the pension scheme as soon as their eligibility is proved.
