Yatrigan kripya dhyan dein! Vande Bharat Train for Kashmir Arrives in Jammu
New Delhi: Finally, the much-awaited Vande Bharat train has arrived in Jammu, and a large number of people will benefit from this. The train is specially designed to run seamlessly in the challenging weather of Jammu and Kashmir. The railway station in Jammu was echoed with a unique announcement, “Yatrigan kripya dhyan dein, vande bharat train sankhya 244027 kashmir jane ke liye platform number ek par khadi hai.” People shouted the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and many rushed to the platform soon after the Vande Bharat train arrived. The special Vande Bharat will run from Katra to Kashmir. The date when the train service will start is yet to be announced.
“We are elated over the arrival of the special train to Kashmir. It is our dream to travel on this train. Now Kashmir is fully connected by train to Kanniyakumari—the other end of India,” said Pune resident Adik Kadam.
According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train from Katra. The commissioner of Railway Safety has given a green signal for running the train service on the Katra-Baramulla section.
The Railways have completed the 272-kilometre Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. This train improves the connection between the Kashmir valley and the national railway network, showing India’s dedication to closing geographical and economic gaps.

Features of the Winter-Ready Vande Bharat Express Train
On June 8, railway officials introduced a new Vande Bharat Express train designed for the winter conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. This train will operate on the upcoming Katra-Srinagar rail route, which includes special climate features.
Unlike the country’s 136 other Vande Bharat Express trains, this train has unique systems that help it function well in the region’s extreme weather. It includes advanced heating to prevent water and toilet tanks from freezing, provides warm air for the vacuum system, and ensures the air-brake system works smoothly in cold temperatures.
Additionally, the train has heating elements in the windshield that automatically defrost the driver’s view, ensuring clear visibility during harsh winters. It also includes all the features of Vande Bharat trains, such as fully air-conditioned coaches, automatic plug doors, and mobile charging sockets.
USBRL Project Completion: Engineering Marvels and Improved Rail Network
The commissioner of Railway Safety has approved the 272-km USBRL project, which connects the Kashmir valley to the Indian railway network. In the past month, Indian Railways conducted six trial runs on different track parts, including significant structures like India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, Anji Khad Bridge, and the famous arch bridge over the Chenab River at Kauri.
The Anji Khad Bridge is an important engineering feat, with a single pylon rising 331 metres above the river bed. This pylon took several years to build and now stands 191 metres above its foundation level. The Anji Khad Bridge, measuring 473.25 metres long, is one of the two highest railway bridges in the world. The Chenab Bridge at Kauri is even taller, reaching 359 metres above the river bed, making it the world’s highest railway bridge and 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
