Speech of DGP, Chief Secretary in Aam Aadmi Party meeting itself; Violation of government regulations?

Chandigarh: Punjab In-charge Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and Chief Secretary K. A. P. Sinha addressed the political meeting from the platform of Aam Aadmi Party. Bikram Singh Majithia, a senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal, has accused of violating all rules by giving such a speech.

The complaint reached the central government

Question mark on stage presence

Randhawa questioned the presence of Punjab Chief Secretary and DGP on the forum. Rule 5 of the All India Services (Code of Conduct) Rules, 1968 prohibits officers from engaging in political activities. According to him, such presence of senior officers is against the principles of administrative fairness and undermines public confidence. AAP flags and election symbols were used liberally during the event and party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was the chief guest. The presence of senior leaders like Manish Sisodia on the stage and Kejriwal’s political speech gave this government event a completely political turn.
