A speeding SUV (Thar) crushed six people standing on the roadside late on Wednesday night in the Chutiya police station area of ​​the capital. 40-year-old Dharmendra Kumar died during treatment in the accident, while five other people were injured. The condition of two of these is said to be serious.

People were returning from the housewarming ceremony-
According to eyewitnesses, some people had come out after having food from a housewarming ceremony near the Durga Temple located in South Railway Colony and were standing on the roadside and talking. Then the Thar, which came at high speed from the railway station, suddenly went out of control and went ahead, trampling the people standing in front.

Local people say that the speed of the vehicle was so fast that no one even got a chance to control themselves.

Treatment of injured in hospital-
After the accident, the people present nearby immediately took the injured to the hospital. The injured include railway TT Annapurna Naidu (50), her son Kunal Naidu (26), Sandeep Mahato (40), Amit Singh (35) and Prashant Gaurav.

Annapurna Naidu and Kunal are being treated at Raj Hospital, while Prashant Gaurav has been admitted to Gurunanak Hospital. The other two injured were sent home after first aid.

Seriously injured Dharmendra Kumar died during treatment. His body has been sent to RIMS for post-mortem. It has been told that he used to work in installing mobile towers in a private company.

Raids in search of driver-
After the accident, the driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. Police have identified the youth driving the Thar and raids are being conducted continuously to arrest him. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle ran in the direction of Doranda.

Chutiya police station is examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby. The recordings of cameras installed on Station Road, Nepal House and other major routes are also being checked. Besides, vehicle checking campaign has been conducted in various areas of the city.
