Speeding SUV Hits Reversing Car on Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Four Family Members Killed

In a devastating road accident that took place on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, four members of the same family lost their lives after their Tata Tiago was struck by a speeding Scorpio SUV.
According to the report, the driver of the Scorpio missed that the Tiago was reversing on the freeway. Moments later, the Scorpio crashed into the rear of the car at high speed, which led to a disastrous collision.

CCTV Footage Captured the Entire Incident

Highway surveillance cameras captured the collision, and the video has already gone viral on social media. The Tiago is seen in the video reversing while traffic continues to move at high speed on both sides The approaching Scorpio smashes into the car with extreme power in a matter of seconds.
The impact sends the Tiago spinning across the carriageway. Before skidding uncontrolled, it hits the crash barrier on one side, bounces back across the road, and hits the barrier on the other side. The Scorpio also loses control, spins around completely, and overturns.

Family Was Travelling to Haridwar

The victims were travelling from Bahadurgarh in Haryana to Haridwar for a religious visit. The family planned to take a holy dip in the Ganga and visit temples when the tragic accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as Praveen, 40, his wife Preeti, 37, his elderly mother Sudesh, and nine-year-old Shivansh.
Three other family members suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the district hospital’s trauma centre. Doctors said all three remain in critical condition and are under close medical supervision.

Investigation Underway

Local residents and passersby quickly stated the rescue efforts before police and a 108 ambulance reached the scene. Both cars have been seized by the authorities, who have also started a thorough investigation. To determine the precise order of events, officials are reviewing CCTV footage and additional evidence.
According to preliminary findings, overspeeding and careless driving, including reversing on a high-speed motorway, were important contributing factors to the collision. While legal actions are ongoing, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
The event is a reminder of the risks associated with reversing or performing abrupt maneuvers on high-speed roadways. People should remember that missing an exit may cause inconvenience for some time, but attempting to reverse on an expressway can lead to devastating consequences for everyone on the road, and this collision is the prime example of such acts.
