‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trailer smashes records with 500 million views in 24 hours

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is the latest in a long series of trailers for previous installments of the franchise featuring Tom Holland as Peter Parker and became an instant sensation—breaking every record set by any previous video (over 500 million views globally within 24 hours) and views digital views alone.

The official trailer launched on March 18, 2026following Sony Pictures’ and Marvel Studios’ innovative marketing strategy to release 23 pieces of microclips—24 hours’ worth of micropictures—from influencers and studio profiles’ accounts over the previous 24 hours leading up to the trailer and reveal at the Empire State Building from above during the live reveal event to fans waiting below.

The board just opened up a new possibility for Spider-Man that was first seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2024) when we last saw him four years ago. Now, he’s living alone in the world. The emotional weight of what it means for his parents to not remember much about him creates more tension and problems for him to deal with as an adult. Teasers show that he is still dealing with the consequences of being erased from his identity, with new villains/scenarios being introduced, e.g., Scorpion and Boomerang, as well as new bad guys coming from different universes (Bruce Banner – Hulk) (Possibly Frank Castle – Punisher).

This new teaser that has just dropped is record-breaking in every sense of the word. In less than 24 hours, it had received over 400 million views (which beat the previous high of 475 million for the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer). It also breaks the previous record for Spider-Man (No Way Home trailer at 355.5 million). In addition to this record-breaking videothe view count from all accounts on Instagram is more than 310 million, and combining all platforms (TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram) will exceed 550 million views combined.

The media is saying that the reason Spider-Man is so popular is that he has continued to remain popular for a long time. The two other main reasons are the impressive star power (Tom Holland and Zendaya) and the very clever and successful viral marketing campaign, which turned many Spider-Man fans into actual participants who have contributed to building his fan base. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be in theaters only on July 31, 2026.
