Friends, Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar surprised cricket by retiring from domestic cricket and IPL. While sharing this news on social media, Shankar said that cricket has been a part of his life since the age of 10, and after spending 25 years in this game, now he wants to look for new opportunities, let us know about the reason behind this decision-
In his heart-touching message, Shankar described representing India as one of the proudest and happiest moments of his career. He thanked BCCI, his teammates, coaches, IPL franchises and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for supporting him throughout this journey.
This all-rounder remained unsold in the IPL 2026 auction. He last played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025; This was the franchise with which he made his IPL debut in 2014. During his IPL career, he also represented Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.
Vijay Shankar played white-ball cricket for Team India, in which he played 12 ODI and 9 T20 International matches. He scored 223 runs and took 4 wickets in ODI, while in T20I he scored 101 runs and took 5 wickets.
Recalling some of the most memorable moments of his career, Shankar mentioned bowling the last over in India’s 500th ODI match in Nagpur and taking his first international wicket on his very first ball during the 2019 World Cup.
