Delhi: Before the start of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, a bad news has come for Sri Lanka on Friday, June 5. Actually, Shashini Gimhani will not be able to participate in the tournament due to injury. Shashini Gimhani is out of this mega tournament due to lower back injury.

Shashini Gimhani out of T20 World Cup, Vimukti replaced

17-year-old Shashini Gimhani is a left-arm spinner, who has played 7 T20 International matches for Sri Lanka so far, in which she has taken 6 wickets at an average of 21.16 and an economy rate of 7.05. Sri Lanka Cricket has included Uchetana Vimukthi in the squad as his replacement. This right-arm fast bowler has not yet made his debut in T20 International. Vimukti has played 3 ODI matches for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s first match against England

Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will start from June 12. The teams of Sri Lanka and England will face each other in the first match of the tournament. This match will be held in Edgbaston. After this, the Sri Lankan team included in Group B will play its remaining 4 matches in the group stage with New Zealand (16 June), West Indies (21 June), Ireland (23 June) and Scotland (26 June).
