Sri Lanka announced 3 teams for a tour, captain changed; New strategy ready for T20, ODI and Test
Sri Lanka Cricket Team Changes White Ball Captain: Sri Lanka cricket team will go on West Indies tour in June, where ODI, T20 and Test series will be played between the two countries. For this important tour, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced the teams of all three formats on 25 May. The selectors have taken a big decision by handing over the command of the ODI and T20 team to Kusal Mendis, while the captaincy of the Test team will remain with Dhananjay de Silva. The tour will start from June 3 with the ODI series.
Kusal Mendis becomes the new white ball captain
Sri Lanka Cricket has made a change of leadership in the limited overs format. Kusal Mendis has been appointed as the new captain of the ODI and T20 team. Whereas Kamindu Mendis has got the responsibility of vice-captain in both the formats. Earlier, Charit Asalanka was captaining the ODI team, but now he has been removed from this post. However, he is included as a player in the ODI team.
Leadership changed in T20 team also
There has been a change in captaincy in the T20 format also. Dasun Shanaka, who led the team in the last T20 World Cup, will no longer be the captain. Kusal Mendis will lead the team in his place. Shanaka has got a place in the team, but Charith Asalanka was not included in the T20 squad. The selectors have expressed confidence in the new leadership structure keeping the future in mind.
Hasaranga returns to the team
Star spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has returned to the ODI and T20 team. Due to a hamstring injury in February, he was away from cricket for a long time and due to this he could not participate in the IPL. After regaining fitness, he has now been included in both the limited overs teams, which will strengthen Sri Lanka’s bowling unit.

Complete schedule of West Indies tour
The three-match ODI series between the two teams will be played on June 3, 6 and 8. After this, there will be three T20 matches on 11, 13 and 14 June. The tour will conclude with a two-Test series. The first Test will be played from 25 to 29 June and the second Test from 3 to 7 July. The Sri Lankan team will enter the West Indies with the hope of a strong performance with new leadership and experienced players.
