SSC GD Exam Cancelled: After huge uproar at the exam centres, SSC’s big decision, exam canceled
The last two days have been no less than a big shock for thousands of youth who had come to appear for the GD Constable recruitment examination of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Candidates from every corner of the country had reached many examination centers early in the morning with lots of expectations in their eyes, but after seeing the ground reality and the scene there, they were shocked.
At many examination centres, twice the number of candidates had reached the allotted seats, while at some places the entire administrative system fell apart like a house of cards. Amidst the growing huge crowd, huge chaos and uproar by students, finally the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had to take a very big and tough decision. In view of the situation, the Commission has canceled the examinations conducted at some special centers with immediate effect.
In an official notice issued on 26 May 2026, SSC made it clear that it was not at all possible to conduct the examination in a completely transparent and fair manner in the examination centers where the situation had gone out of control. In such a situation, the examination of the affected shifts has been canceled and now it will be conducted afresh.
Why was there stampede and ruckus at the examination centres?
According to the information revealed, more candidates were called together at the examination centers built in many cities of the country than their capacity. For example, at the exam center where there was proper seating arrangement for only 250 candidates, almost double the number of students reached there to write the paper. In such a situation, not only did a serious problem of seating in the examination hall arise, but the entire computer-based examination process came to a standstill.
Complaints and videos continuously surfaced from big cities of Uttar Pradesh like Prayagraj, Kanpur and Gorakhpur regarding this huge disturbance. At many centres, despite reaching on time, candidates were stopped outside the gate. Angered by this administrative negligence, the candidates protested fiercely outside the examination centres, which led to road jams and uproar at many places. Not only in UP, but also in Muzaffarpur of Bihar, as soon as the news of cancellation of the examination spread, the anger of the students erupted.
The pain of all the candidates who came to appear for the examination was evident. He said that he had prepared day and night for months for this government job, but due to the negligence of the system, all his hard work seems to have gone in vain. This was the reason why the issue of SSC GD exam kept trending throughout the day on social media platforms.
Why did the Commission take the big decision to cancel the examination?
SSC has given its clarification on this entire matter and said that there can be no compromise with the fairness and sanctity of the examination. When more candidates reach any center than its capacity and the basic arrangements there get affected, then it becomes impossible to conduct the examination properly and safely.
The Commission was continuously receiving complaints that the number of candidates at some centers had crossed the prescribed limit. In such a sensitive situation, it was decided to cancel the examination as a precautionary measure to avoid any kind of paper leak, rigging or major controversy.
Candidates should not worry, they will get full opportunity to appear in the exam again.
There is also a relief news for the candidates whose examination on 25th and 26th May has been affected due to this chaos. SSC has said in clear words that all the affected candidates will get a full and fair opportunity to re-examine.
According to the Central Region of the Staff Selection Commission, the examination of these affected candidates is now being conducted again from tomorrow i.e. 27th May 2026. The Commission says that no promising candidate will be allowed to suffer because of the administration’s mistake.
New admit cards will be issued, exam date also changed
Since the examination is being conducted again at these centres, candidates will not have to rely on the old admit card. All affected students need to download their new hall ticket (admit card) from the official website. The Commission has advised the candidates to keep checking the official website of SSC for latest updates.
Along with this, SSC has made another big and important change in the exam schedule. For some candidates, the examination which was earlier scheduled to be held on 28th May, will now be preponed and conducted on 27th May only. According to the Commission, this sudden change has been made due to the amendment in government holidays. In such a situation, all the candidates will have to take special care of the new date, shift and reporting time given in their new admit card so that no mistake happens again.
