Knife stabbing in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar: Couple faced heavy burden to resist mobile robbery, woman died in the attack; husband injured
Protesting mobile robbery in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar area on Sunday night proved costly for a couple. The miscreants attacked the couple with a knife when they were trying to stop the robbery attempt. Rakhi, the woman who was trying to intervene in the attack, died on the spot, while the condition of her husband Ashu remains critical. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
North West District Police Deputy Commissioner Akanksha Yadav said that at around 9 pm on Sunday night, Adarsh Nagar police station received information about a knife attack on a husband and wife in the TPT Center slum located along the railway track near Azadpur. During this time, police station in-charge Vipin Kumar was patrolling the area. As soon as the information was received, he reached the spot with the police team and admitted the seriously injured couple to the nearby Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. While doctors declared Rakhi dead, her husband Ashu is undergoing treatment. The police started investigating the case by sending the woman’s body for post-mortem. Police called crime and forensic team on the spot. The team collected evidence from there.
Ashu works as a balloon seller
Investigation revealed that Rakhi lived with her husband Ashu and son in the TPT Center slum located along the railway track. Ashu sells balloons in the area. During interrogation of the local people, it was revealed that on Sunday, three miscreants Hrithik, Kunal and Arbaaz had looted the mobile phone from Ashu’s son. Ashu had a dispute with the three miscreants when they reached near his house at night.
During the scuffle, the miscreants started attacking Ashu with a knife. Seeing this, Rakhi came to the rescue. The miscreants also attacked him with a knife and ran away from there. The police officer said that Ashu is not in a condition to give a statement. Based on the information, the police have registered a case of murder and attempt to murder. According to the police, three attackers have been identified. Police have formed several teams to arrest him and are searching for him.
