The stampede occurred on platform number 1 of Bandra Terminus, Bandra (E) on Sunday morning. The condition of the injured is said to be stable and they are undergoing treatment at Bhabha Hospital in Mumbai.

According to BMC, the crowd of people who had come to travel by train number 22921 from Bandra to Gorakhpur was so much that a stampede broke out. The accident happened on platform number-1 of the station. The passengers injured in the stampede have been admitted to Baba Hospital in Bandra. The condition of 7 out of 10 passengers is said to be stable, while the condition of 3 passengers is critical.

Railway police personnel and other passengers are carrying the injured on stretchers. In the video, a railway policeman is seen carrying the injured passenger on his shoulder. CRPO of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek said that train number 22921 is run from Mumbai to Gorakhpur. All the coaches of this train are general i.e. unreserved. The train was to run at 5:15, but during the festival season it was decided to bring the train to the platform 2-3 hours in advance so that people could board comfortably. However, people started boarding the train even before it reached the platform. The train was in running condition when people started boarding it, due to which the accident occurred.
