“Ahead of Pakistan’s final Super 8 match against Sri Lanka, a player of the Pakistan World Cup team misbehaved with a female housekeeping staff member,” sources told Telecom Asia Sport. “The staff screamed and called for help, upon which the hotel staff came to his rescue and reported the matter to Pakistan team manager Naved Cheema,” the report quoted team sources as saying.

“The top management of the Golden Crown Hotel wanted the matter to be dealt with sternly, but Cheema apologized on behalf of the player and fined him for misconduct,” Telecom Asia Sports reported. Although Pakistan won that match by five runs, the team could not reach the semi-finals on the basis of net run-rate and returned home in batches on Sunday and Monday.
