Star from Virat Kohli’s RCB shines as New Zealand make major WTC jump
Jacob Duffy’s standout performance against West Indies caused a major shake-up in the World Test Championship standings.

Jacob duffy delivered a match-defining five-wicket haul as New Zealand defeated West Indies by a massive margin of 323 runs in the third and final Test match series. With the match concluding on Monday, December 22, the hosts clinched the series 2-0.
Chasing a target of 462 runs in the final Test, West Indies were bowled out for just 138 in their second innings. The emphatic victory at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui helped New Zealand make a significant leap in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.
Fast bowler Jacob Duffy starred with the ball, claiming five wickets. Duffy was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the IPL auction held earlier this month. Left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel played a key role, picking up three wickets.
This was New Zealand’s second consecutive Test win over the Rostan Chase-led West Indies. The opening Test of the series had ended in a draw, which was enough for the hosts to secure the three-match series.
The win propelled New Zealand to second place in the World Test Championship 2025-27 standings. The 2021 WTC champions now have 28 points with a points percentage (PCT) of 77.77%, pushing South Africa down the table.

West Indies remains at the bottom of the points table with a PCT is 4.16%, and their chances of reaching in the top two are now virtually over. In the current WTC cycle, the Caribbean side have played eight Tests, losing seven and drawing one.
Australia currently sit at the top of the WTC rankings. The Kangaroos defeated England by 82 runs in the third Ashes Test of the 2025-26 series to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Australia have played six matches in this WTC cycle and won all of them. They have 72 points and a 100% win percentage. England are placed seventh, having won just two of their eight Test so far.
