Starlink website goes live in India, know how much will you have to pay for one month recharge?

New Delhi: Elon Musk’s SpaceX company Starlink has announced the launch of its satellite internet service in India. The company has launched a website specifically for India, where details of residential plans are given. This service will prove to be a boon for those remote areas where traditional broadband or mobile networks do not reach.

Plan price and details

On the official website of Starlink (starlink.com/in), the monthly fee for the residential plan is stated to be Rs 8,600. This is a plan with unlimited data, which gives a validity of one month. Apart from this, a lump sum amount of Rs 34,000 will have to be paid for the hardware kit (dish and router). New users will get a 30-day free trial with a promise of a full refund if they don’t like the service.

Easy setup and high reliability

The company claims that setup is extremely simple, just plug in and start the internet. This system will continue to work in all weather conditions, with more than 99.9% uptime guarantee. High-speed connectivity will be available, which is perfect for video streaming, online classes and work from home. Starlink has also partnered with states like Maharashtra to increase access to rural areas.

Next step after government approval

The Government of India had given a five-year license to Starlink in July 2025. Now gateway stations are being set up in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Noida. However, some more approvals are pending for commercial launch. There will be competition from rivals like Jio-SES and Eutelsat OneWeb.

What will be the effect?

This plan can fill 70% of India’s connectivity gap. But the fee of Rs 8,600 seems to be a premium, which can be a challenge for the middle class. Still, users will be able to test with a free trial. The arrival of Starlink in India will give new momentum to Digital India.
