Stars left out: Who got snubbed at the 2026 Oscars?
The 2026 Academy Award nominations are out, and the list of snubs is raising eyebrows across Hollywood. Several films and performances that were expected to receive recognition have been overlooked, leaving fans and critics stunned.
One of the biggest surprises is “Wicked: For Good”. The original film earned ten nominations and took home two Oscars. However, its sequel, despite earning over $200 million worldwide, did not receive a single nomination this year.

Jesse Plemons was widely expected to earn a nomination for his role as a conspiracy theorist in Bugonia. After winning nods at the Golden Globes and the Actor Awards, his exclusion from the Oscars came as a shock to many.

Similarly, Joel Edgerton, who delivered a critically acclaimed performance as Robert Grainier in Train Dreams, was passed over by the Academy.

veteran actor Adam Sandler also missed out. Despite a career spanning over three decades and his acclaimed performance as a devoted manager in Jay Kelly, Sandler has yet to receive his first Oscar nomination.

Rising star Chase Infiniti faced a similar disappointment. Though she received award-season attention for her 19% screen time in One Battle After Another, the Oscars did not recognize her performance.

Director Guillermo del Torocelebrated for his meticulous work on Frankenstein, did not get a nomination despite critical and audience praise.

Actress Amanda Seyfried was overlooked for her role in The Testament of Anne Lee, while Paul Mescal, known for his remarkable performances since 2020, was snubbed for portraying Shakespeare in Hamnet.

Even established stars like Jennifer Lawrence did not make the cut. Her role in Die, My Love had generated buzz, but the Academy favored other contenders.

Musician and actress Miley Cyrus, promoting her track Dream As One in Avatar: Fire and Ash, also failed to capture a nomination.

Odessa A’Ziondespite being nominated at other award shows, was excluded for her role in Marty Supreme.

Lastly, acclaimed South Korean director Park Chan-wook saw his films, including Decision to Leave and The Handmaiden, ignored by the Academy. His latest project, No Other Choice, received no recognition either.
This year’s Oscar snubs highlight the unpredictable nature of Academy voting. Many of the overlooked performers and films remain audience favorites, proving that critical acclaim and box office success do not always guarantee an Oscar nod.
