Launch of ‘Startup Frontier 1.0’
The day-long conference and exhibition ‘Startup Frontier 1.0’ organized by Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University and iSpark Foundation under the Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan was inaugurated by the Governor. On this occasion, Minister for Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma, Vice Chancellor of Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, HP India Ipsita Dasgupta, Skill Development Commissioner Dr. Dr. Amit Saini, Secretary to the Governor. Prashant Naranvare, Joint Secretary, Governor’s Secretariat S. Ramamurthy, Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra State Innovation Society Dr. Shrikant Patil, Director of Business and Training Directorate Satish Suryavanshi, University Registrar Dr. Vaibhav Narvade, as well as industry dignitaries, investors, mentors, entrepreneurs, startups, faculty and students were present. Medical Lab and HP Creative Garage Lab were inaugurated by the Governor on this occasion. At this time Chancellor Dr. Apoorva Palkar read out the message of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Platforms like ‘Startup Frontier 1.0’ play a vital role
Governor Jishnu Dev Verma said India has no dearth of creativity and innovation, but these innovations need to be transformed into socially beneficial solutions and successful enterprises. A platform like ‘Startup Frontier 1.0’ will play an important role in this regard. Countries like Singapore, Israel and Switzerland, despite not having abundant natural resources, have made global progress on the strength of human capital, technology and innovation. In the future, universities will be recognized for the innovations they create, the intellectual property they create, the start-ups they encourage and the positive impact they make on society. There is a need to build an inclusive, just and equal opportunity society by taking inspiration from the Indian philosophy of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah’. Stating that the mantra slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not only but a broad goal of the country’s development, Governor Verma said that the benefits of skill development, entrepreneurship and innovation should reach the last segment of the society.
Initiative to promote innovation – Chief Minister Fadnavis
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in a message that Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University has made remarkable progress in just three years and has positively impacted more than 61 thousand students through industry-oriented education, skill development, increase in employability, promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation-based activities. Initiatives like MSSUIARC Foundation, Incubator are creating new opportunities for new entrepreneurs and young innovators. Through a partnership with IIT Madras promoters, the students will be trained in data center infrastructure and operations. Also the opening of HP Gaming Garage and Medical Lab Technology Laboratory will provide students with an opportunity to acquire cutting-edge skills as per the needs of emerging industries. Innovation, startups and entrepreneurship will be crucial to accelerate economic growth, generate employment and uplift the standard of living of citizens while moving towards the goal of ‘Developed Maharashtra 2047’.
Startup movement will reach every village – Minister Lodha
Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha said that the startup movement should not be limited to a few cities or a certain class but should reach every village in the state, especially rural and tribal areas. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the work of inculcating the startup culture in all the districts of the state is going on, and for this, the cooperation of industry, educational institutions, investors and all sections of the society is required. The government is determined to bring this movement home to make Maharashtra a leading startup center not only in the country but also globally.
Pre-incubation centers open in 60 colleges – Additional Chief Secretary Verma
Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma said that through Maharashtra State Innovation Society, youth across the state are being given opportunities through activities like Startup Week, Startup Yatra, Hackathon and Innovation Challenges. Financial support for patents, strengthening of incubators, regional innovation centers and innovation in universities are being encouraged by the state government. Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University has done significant work in connecting students with industry, investors and mentors by starting pre-incubation centers in 60 colleges. The MoU with IIT Madras will provide engineering students with standardized training in data center infrastructure and operations for which CSR funds will be available.
Will build an ecosystem that gives direction to students’ ideas – Vice-Chancellor Dr. Palkar
Dr. Apoorva Palkar said that the need of the hour is to set up labs, prototypes and create an ecosystem that guides students’ ideas to startups. The Government of Maharashtra has taken initiatives in the areas of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics (AVGC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He expressed the belief that the ‘Maha AI School’ initiative and HP Creators Garage Labs will give students hands-on training in cutting-edge technology to become innovators and entrepreneurs of the future.
Training in various fields from ‘HP Creators Garage Labs’ – Ipsita Dasgupta
Ipsita Dasgupta said that the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Mumbai and the ‘Maha AI School’ initiative will provide students with education and hands-on experience of cutting-edge technology. Through the ‘HP Dreams Unlocked’ initiative, more than 4.5 crore students have been reached. The ‘HP Creators Garage Labs’, which will be started in collaboration with the state government, will provide students with training, hackathons and project-based learning opportunities in areas such as game design, AI, cyber security, coding etc. is
MoU between Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University and IIT Madras
Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University and IIT Madras signed MoU to implement industry-related skill development program for Maharashtra students in the presence of dignitaries under which online education, certification, internship and mentoring will be provided. A free skill development program is being launched through the company’s CSR fund ‘Vertiv’. It is planned to train 1500 students from Maharashtra. It will include students who have passed in the year 2026 and those who will pass in 2027 in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical. Courses in data center operations and infrastructure management, critical power and cooling systems, physical security systems, operations and maintenance practices and industry standards will be imparted.
Participation of startups from emerging sectors in the exhibition
The startup showcase showcased innovative products and technology-based solutions developed by startups in agriculture, education, fintech, deeptech, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and other emerging sectors.
