State Public Service Commission gets new permanent chairman, Lieutenant. General Gajendra Joshi got command
Uttarakhand Public Service Commission has finally got a permanent chairman after June 2023. The state government has appointed Lieutenant General Gajendra Joshi as the new chairman of the commission, and a new member has also been appointed in the commission.
Take. General Gajendra Joshi (Senior) has been elected as the new Chairman of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. Along with him, Dr. Hemchandra Pandey has been appointed a member of the commission. The chair of the permanent chairman in the commission was vacant from June 2023. The State Public Service Commission has the responsibility of important recruitments but year after year the chairperson and members’ chair kept falling vacant.
The new chairman of the commission is Lt. General Gajendra Joshi (Senior) is originally a resident of Latoli in Champawat district. He served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the prestigious Strike-1 Corps of the Indian Army and the Commandant of the Infantry School, Mhow. After rendering distinguished and exemplary service for more than 38 years, he retired on 30 April 2026.
In his career he led several counter-terrorism operations including Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka, Operation Rakshak in Jammu and Kashmir and North-East India. For his outstanding leadership, he has also been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Sena Medal (SM).
There was no permanent president from June 2023
On June 11, 2023, the then Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Rakesh Kumar had resigned from his post. After this, senior member of the Commission, Dr. Jagmohan Singh Rana and then Ravidutt Godiyal took over the responsibility as Chairman-in-charge. At present, senior member Anil Kumar Rana was handling this responsibility as caretaker.
