State towards ‘Startup Revolution’ in tourism, new opportunities opened for investors with New Tourism Startup Units

Lucknow, Amrit Thoughts: To give a new direction to the tourism sector in the state, the government has opened up huge opportunities for investors and youth under the ‘New Tourism Startup Units’ initiative.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that under this initiative, such projects will be encouraged which are based on modern technology, innovation and sustainable development. These projects will be presented before the State Level Special Tourism Committee (SLSTC), where incentives and concessions will be determined. Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Amrit Abhijat said that the government’s aim is to increase employment opportunities in the tourism sector. At present the share of tourism in total employment is 1.4 percent, which is targeted to be increased to 5 percent by 2047.

There are plans to develop innovative models like ‘Hobbit House’, Japanese-style capsule stay, regenerative tourism units, state-of-the-art caravan units and open air ‘Star Bed’ in the state. This will give tourists a new and memorable experience.

Attractive facilities for investors

Under the UP Tourism Policy, investors will be given subsidies in various categories. There is a provision of 25 percent subsidy on investment up to Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 10 crore (maximum Rs. 2 crore), 20 percent up to Rs. 50 crore (maximum Rs. 7.5 crore), 15 percent subsidy up to Rs. 200 crore (maximum Rs. 20 crore) and 10 percent subsidy up to Rs. 500 crore. Apart from this, 100 percent exemption in stamp duty and land conversion fee will also be given. Women and Scheduled Caste/Tribe entrepreneurs will get additional 5 percent subsidy.
