State wide Satyagraha will be held against retrenchment of contract workers
Lucknow – In the capital Lucknow, the meeting of the provincial executive of Electricity Contract Labor Organization Uttar Pradesh was held under the chairmanship of State President Naval Kishore Saxena at the organization's central office, Hambra Apartment, Narhi. During the meeting, it was decided to hold a one-day Satyagraha in every district of the state on 3 December 2024 to protest against the state-wide retrenchment of contractual workers. In the meeting, the speakers protested against the massive retrenchment of contract workers in various districts of the state. Also, anger was expressed over the non-implementation of the agreements made by the organization with the management regarding the demands of the contract workers. .
Patron of the organization and senior labor leader RS Rai demanded a salary of Rs 22,000 to the workers employed through outsourcing and Rs 25,000 to the linemen, SSOs and computer operators. Despite not participating in the strike of last March, he walked out. Criticized the contract workers for not being taken back to work and protested against the contract workers who had been working for years being retrenched and rendered unemployed despite the increased work.
