Raipur, September 24 (HS). After meeting the accused in jail in the case of arson and violence in Loharidih of Kawardha (Kabirdham) district of Chhattisgarh, State Women Commission Chairperson Kiranmayi Nayak has made serious allegations on Tuesday. In this regard, she has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, High Court Judge, Human Rights Commission, Governor and demanded to register a case of murder against the then Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallav and policemen.

After meeting the accused in jail, State Women Commission Chairperson Kiranmayi Nayak has alleged that the women in jail were stripped and beaten. There are injury marks on the sensitive organs of the women. Nayak informed the journalists that she spoke to 33 women in jail. The women have been kept in the Mahila Bandini Griha of Durg. Out of these, 32 women have serious injuries on their bodies. She told that along with the Tehsildar, a government lawyer and a doctor were with me. We examined their bodies and wrote about their injuries. I myself am also a forensic expert.

Nayak said that I have prepared this report in two days. I have also sent the investigation report and details of injuries. I have mailed it to the Supreme Court judge, High Court judge, Human Rights Commission and Governor. I hope that action will start soon from somewhere. We have written for the treatment and videography of the injuries of the women. We have also written for parading the injured police personnel deployed on duty at that time in front of the women prisoners. Women have been subjected to more than third degree cruelty. Prashant Sahu died due to one such assault. She alleged that she also wanted to videograph the statements of the women, but the police did not let her take the mobile.

She said that a murder case should be registered against these policemen and the then Superintendent of Police. Their official and personal mobiles should be seized. Mobile location should be traced so that it can be known whether they were present at the crime scene or not. The women have injuries on their head, thighs, back, eyes and stick marks. There are marks of serious injuries on hip parts, knees and back of calves. The women are illiterate. They were sleeping with their grandchildren, the police picked them up without a search warrant. Kiranmayi Nayak says that she is making this allegation with full evidence.

It is known that on 15th September, villagers gathered at the house of Deputy Sarpanch Raghunath Sahu in Loharidih of Kawardha, angry with the murder of a person of the community and set his house on fire. The Deputy Sarpanch was burnt alive in this fire. The crowd pelted stones on the police at the spot. Many policemen including the SP were injured in this. Here, Prashant Sahu, the accused of arson in connection with this fire incident, died in police custody, after which there has been an uproar. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has ordered a magisterial inquiry in this case and he has removed the Collector and SP with immediate effect.
