How to make Steamed Rice Cutlets

Steamed Rice Cutlet is a great snack recipe. To prepare this, first mash cooked rice and boiled potatoes well in a big bowl. Now add chopped vegetables, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and all the spices and mix well.

Finally add cornflour or bread crumbs to bind the mixture, so that cutlets can be formed easily. Take small portions from the prepared mixture and shape them into round or oval cutlets. Keep in mind that all the cutlets should be of similar size, so that they can cook together properly.

Now heat water in a steamer or idli cooker. Place the cutlets in a steamer plate and steam for about 10-12 minutes. Steaming makes the cutlets soft and healthy from inside.

If you want a light crispy crust, then you can lightly fry the steamed cutlets in a non-stick pan by adding a little oil. This improves both taste and texture.

Serve steamed rice cutlets hot with green chutney, tomato sauce or curd dip. It is a great option for breakfast, evening tea or a light dinner.
