Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga aren’t teammates anymore, but the future Hall of Famer made it clear Wednesday he’s still got his friend’s back.
Hours after a report emerged that Warriors brass had been upset that someone in Kuminga’s inner circle had been swiping too much food from a team family room, Curry raced to the comment section of an Instagram post to defend his old running mate.
“I’m sorry bro,” Curry wrote. “This is ridiculous Go be Great!”
The post, which was shared by Bleacher Report and later removed, featured an image of Kuminga in his Warriors jersey with a caption that read, “Too much food.”
It also had emojis of a hamburger and a hot dog.
Kuminga made it known he wasn’t a fan of the report with his own line in the comment section, where he dropped multiple crying emojis and the words, “What else?”
Kuminga joined the Warriors at 19 years old after he was picked in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft.
He had his breakout season for the team in 2023-24, but the past two years didn’t go as expected for the forward.
It all eventually erupted into a schism between Kuminga and head coach Steve Kerr, with ESPN describing the duo’s recent relationship as “a relatively cordial cold war.”
Kuminga was ultimately sent packing last week in a trade that jettisoned him to the Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis. He’s yet to play a game for Atlanta while he recovers from a knee injury.
