Stock market almost stable amid ups and downs, Sensex slips 43 points, slight rise in Nifty
Mumbai23 December. The bullish trend in the Indian stock market for the last two trading sessions came to an end on Tuesday and amid ups and downs, both the benchmark indices closed with almost stable trend. While BSE Sensex showed a slight decline of 43 points, NSE Nifty was up by five points.
In fact, amid mixed signals from the global market, while FMCG, metal and energy stocks managed to hold the market, selling was seen in IT, PSU bank, pharma and realty stocks. This was the reason that in the end the market closed almost flat.
Sensex 85,524.84 closed on points
Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex closed at 85,524.84, down 42.64 points or 0.05 percent. During trading, it touched a high of 85,704.93 points and also fell as low as 85,342.99 points. Among Sensex related companies, shares of 13 remained strong while 17 declined.

On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) sensitive index Nifty based on 50 shares increased marginally by 4.75 points or 0.02 percent and closed at 26,177.15 points. Among Nifty related companies, shares of 26 remained in the green and 24 remained weak. In the broader market, BSE Smallcap index related to small companies rose 0.38 percent while Midcap index related to medium companies gained 0.07 percent.
Infosys stocks suffered the biggest loss of 1.28 percent.
Among the companies included in Sensex, Infosys’s stock suffered the biggest loss of 1.28 percent. Shares of Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, Eternal, Axis Bank and Maruti were also major losers. On the other hand, gainers include ITC, UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank.
FII has 457.34 Sold shares worth crores of rupees
According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 457.34 crore on Monday. However, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) continued buying and bought shares worth Rs 4,058.22 crore. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.10 percent at US$62.13 per barrel.
