Stock market closed: After the fall, stock markets rose, Sensex-Nifty closed with a rise amid mixed signals.

Mumbai. Domestic stock markets in IT and banking sectors remained bullish after initial decline on Tuesday. BSE’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex closed at 83,450.96 points with a gain of 173.81 points (0.21 percent). The Nifty-50 index of the National Stock Exchange rose 42.65 points or 0.17 percent to reach 25,725.40. There was growth in medium and small companies also.

Nifty Midcap-50 index closed up 0.14 percent and Smallcap-100 index closed up 0.56 percent. There was strong buying momentum in IT, public sector banks, FMCG, auto, media, pharma, consumer durables and health sectors. Metal, realty and oil and gas groups declined. Among Sensex companies, shares of ITC and BEL rose more than two percent.

Shares of L&T, Infosys, Asian Paints, Adani Ports, Titan, HCL Technologies and Sun Pharma gained one to two percent. Shares of Maruti Suzuki, Tech Mahindra, Indigo, State Bank of India and TCS also remained in the green. Kwality Walls shares fell nearly five percent. Shares of Eternal, Tata Steel and Trent fell between one and two percent. Shares of Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel and Kotak Mahindra Bank were also in the red.
