Stock market closed at all time high, Sensex crossed 84 thousand 900, know the status of Nifty

Mumbai: The local stock markets rose on Monday and both benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed at new record levels. The domestic market remained in the lead due to strong capital inflow from foreign institutional investors and strong trend in other Asian markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose for the third consecutive session and closed at an all-time high of 84,928.61 points with a gain of 384.30 points or 0.45 percent.

During trading, it jumped 436.22 points to reach a record 84,980.53 points. The National Stock Exchange's Nifty also closed at a new peak of 25,939.05 points with a gain of 148.10 points or 0.57 percent. During trading, it climbed 165.05 points to reach a record 25,956 points. Out of the 30 Sensex companies, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, Kotak Mahindra Bank, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports and Tata Steel were the biggest gainers.

On the other hand, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services and Larsen & Toubro were among the losers. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 14,064.05 crore on Friday. VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services, said, “The US Federal Reserve's 0.50 percent cut in interest rate on September 18 boosted the rally. More than the cut in policy rate, the positive comments of the head of the Federal Reserve are giving momentum to the market.”

There was a mixed trend in trading in major European markets. The US markets closed with a mixed trend on Friday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude was up 0.09 percent at $ 74.55 per barrel. The BSE Sensex on Friday climbed 1,359.51 points to an all-time high of 84,544.31 points and the NSE Nifty jumped 375.15 points to a new peak of 25,790.95 points.
