Stock market closed flat amid ups and downs, Sensex 27 points weaker, Nifty 14 points stronger.

Mumbai, 26 February. On Thursday, the day of weekly expiry, the domestic stock market was seen trading in a limited range and after witnessing fluctuations for the second consecutive day, both the benchmark indices closed almost flat. In this sequence, while BSE Sensex weakened by 27 points, NSE Nifty gained 14 points.

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex fell by 27.46 points or 0.03 per cent and stopped at 82,248.61. However, the index opened with a gain of 142.71 points compared to the previous trading session and rose by 303.09 points to reach 82,579.16 points during the day’s trading. But soon all the gains were lost and at one point the index had slipped by 305.60 points to a low of 81,970.40 points. Among Sensex related companies, shares of 12 were on the rise while 17 were weak.

On the other hand, Nifty, the standard index based on 50 shares of National Stock Exchange (NSE), closed at the level of 25,496.55 with a gain of 14.05 points or 0.06 percent. The index made a high of 25,572.95 and a low of 25,400.95 in the day’s trade, gaining 73.80 points compared to the previous session. Among the companies associated with Nifty, 23 stocks remained in the green and 26 registered a decline.

Bharat Electronics stocks rose the most by 2.21 percent

Among the companies included in the Sensex group, Bharat Electronics’ stock rose the most by 2.21 percent. Apart from that, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, TCS, Maruti Suzuki were also among the mainly rising stocks. On the contrary, Trent, Eternal, Power Grid Corporation, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints and NTPC were major losers.

FII has 3,Made net purchase of shares worth Rs 024.50 crore

According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) made net purchases of Rs 3,024.50 crore on Wednesday while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) made net purchases of Rs 3,639.97 crore.
