Stock market closed: Fluctuations in markets due to buying in auto-pharma, Sensex gains 303 points, changes in Nifty

Mumbai. Domestic stock markets witnessed volatility in major indices on Thursday amid buying in auto and pharma sectors. BSE Sensex was once up by 303 points in the morning trade, but fell by more than 305 points in the afternoon. Finally it fell 27.46 points (0.03 percent) to close at 82,248.61 points.

The Nifty-50 index of the National Stock Exchange, after going through ups and downs, finally managed to close at 25,496.55 points, up 14.05 points or 0.06 percent. There was a strong buying trend in medium companies while selling was seen more in small companies. Nifty Midcap-50 index rose 0.69 percent.

The Nifty Smallcap-50 index declined by 0.01 percent. Auto, public bank, pharma, health and chemical groups were more bullish. Indices of FMCG, media and financial companies remained in the red. BEL shares rose by about 2.25 percent in Sensex.

Shares of Adani Ports, Sun Pharma and Maruti Suzuki gained one to two percent. Shares of Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, TCS, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank also remained up. More than one and a half percent of Trent was broken. Shares of Eternal and Power Grid also fell by more than one percent. Shares of HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, NTPC, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance and ITC and Bajaj Finserv also closed down.
