Stock Market Closed: Stock markets closed with gains, Sensex up 300 points; Nifty surged

Mumbai. Domestic stock markets witnessed a rise on Monday on hopes of peace talks between America and Iran. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 77,269.40, up 355.90 points (0.46 per cent). The Nifty-50 index of the National Stock Exchange reached 24,119.30 points with a gain of 121.75 points or 0.51 percent. Buying was also seen in medium and small companies.

Nifty Midcap-50 index closed up 0.61 percent and Smallcap-100 index closed up 0.70 percent. After US President Donald Trump’s statement that Iran’s new peace proposal is good, investors have gained confidence that the West Asia crisis will end soon. Due to this, buying was seen in the stock markets. Except IT, media and banking, other sectors remained bullish. Indices of realty, metal, health, finance and pharma sectors were more bullish.

Adani Ports shares rose by more than five percent. Shares of Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Industries, L&T, Eternal and Maruti Suzuki rose between two to three percent. Shares of Bajaj Finserv, UltraTech Cement and Bajaj Finance rose between one and two per cent.

Indices of Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, BEL, Tata Steel, Trent and Power Grid also remained in the green. Bharti Airtel shares fell by more than three percent. Kotak Mahindra Bank also had a rise of about three percent. Shares of TCS, ITC and Infosys closed one to two percent higher. Shares of Indigo and Titan also closed in decline.
