Stock market closed today, there will be no trading in BSE-NSE –
Tezzbuzz Desk- Indian stock markets remained closed on Thursday i.e. today on the occasion of Ram Navami, due to which investors got a short break. There was no trading activity throughout the day on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Market movements are likely to remain limited in the coming days as trading sessions will be reduced due to a series of holidays. Two more holidays are falling in the next eight days, due to which the market will be trading only for a few days. According to the calendar, the stock market will remain closed on March 31 due to Mahavir Jayanti and April 3 due to Good Friday. Due to this, there will be only three trading sessions next week, making it a long weekend for investors.
The impact of holidays was also seen in the commodity market. Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) remained closed in the morning session (9 am to 5 pm), however trading resumed after 5 pm in the evening session. At the same time, the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange remained completely closed in both the sessions.
According to the MCX annual calendar, a total of 16 trading holidays have been scheduled in 2026. On some of these days the market remains completely closed, while on some occasions trading stops only partially. The next holiday in the month of March will be on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti, where the morning session will remain closed but business will resume in the evening.
If we look at the holiday calendar of the entire year, the next holiday in April after Good Friday will be on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April. After this, the market will remain closed on Maharashtra Day on 1st May, Bakrid on 28th May and Muharram on 26th June.
There will be no trading on many major festivals in the second half of the year, including Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 20, Diwali Balipratipada on November 10 and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24. The market’s last holiday in 2026 will be Christmas Day, December 25.
Due to these frequent holidays, the volume in the market is likely to remain low and investors’ activities may remain limited. Experts believe that during this period, the impact of global signals and economic news may be more visible on the market.
