Stock market declined for the fifth consecutive day, Sensex closed with slight loss, Nifty 3 points weaker.

Mumbai30 December. Indian stock markets closed almost flat amid light trading on Tuesday, a day before the end of the year 2025. However, this was the fifth consecutive trading session when the benchmark indices remained in the red. In this sequence, while BSE Sensex saw a slight loss of 20 points, NSE Nifty saw a weakness of three points.

In fact, continuous capital withdrawal by foreign institutional investors and soft trend in global stock markets affected investor sentiment. At the same time, the gains in PSU banks, metal and auto stocks were neutralized by selling pressure in IT, FMCG, realty and pharma stocks.

Sensex 0.02 percentage drop 84,675.08 closed on points

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex fell for the fifth consecutive day and closed 20.46 points or 0.02 per cent lower at 84,675.08. During trading, the Sensex reached a high of 84,806.99 and a low of 84,470.94. A total fluctuation of 336.05 points was seen in it. Among Sensex related companies, shares of 12 were in profit while 18 showed weakness.

On the other hand, the standard index Nifty based on 50 shares of National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed stable at 25,938.85 points with a decline of 3.25 points or 0.01 percent. Among Nifty related companies, shares of 16 showed strength while 34 suffered losses.

Eternal’s stock saw the maximum decline of 2.10 percent.

Among the companies included in the Sensex, Eternal’s stock saw the biggest decline of 2.10 percent. Shares of Infosys, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finance, HCL Tech and Titan were also major losers. On the other hand, gainers included Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv and Axis Bank.

FII has 2,759.89 Sold shares worth crores of rupees

According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,759.89 crore on Monday while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,643.85 crore. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.47 percent at $62.23 a barrel.
