Stock market opened with gains, Sensex-Nifty in green, dollar pressure continues
Mumbai. There was a rise in early trading in the domestic stock markets on Monday amid the ongoing decline for the last few days. BSE’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex opened with a fall of 148.13 points at 74,415.79 points but reached the green mark within some time.
A lot of fluctuations were seen in the market. At one time the Sensex was down by 179 points and later it reached a gain of 420 points. At the time of writing, it was up 59.48 points (0.08 percent) at 74,623.40. The Nifty 50 index of the National Stock Exchange also opened 35 points lower at 23,116.10.
There is a decline in small companies right now. The pressure of continued depreciation of rupee against the dollar is being seen on the stock market. At present the rupee is down by 14 paise at Rs 92.44 per dollar. Indices of metal, auto, FMCG, banking and finance groups are up while those of IT, realty, oil & gas, consumer durables and chemicals groups are in decline.
Among Sensex companies, shares of HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finance, ITC and Tata Steel are currently on the rise, while Mahindra & Mahindra and ICICI Bank are in decline.
