Share market excited by global signals, Sensex opens above 78000, Nifty also rises
Indian Stock Market Rise: There is tremendous volatility being seen in the Indian stock market today (07 May 2026). There are signs of reducing tension in the Middle East and hopes of an end to the war between America and Iran have come into the global market. Its clear impact was visible on the Indian stock market. The markets opened strongly in the morning, but after some time both the major indices fell.
On Thursday morning, Sensex was down by 68 points or 0.09 per cent at 77,889 and Nifty was at 24,303, down by 24 points or 0.11 per cent. However, buying is being seen in midcap and smallcap. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was at 61,563, up 202 points or 0.33 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was at 18,657, up 97 points or 0.53 per cent.
Nifty auto and metal market booming
Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal were leading the market in early trading. Apart from this, Nifty Healthcare, Nifty Energy, Nifty Commodities and Nifty India Defense were in the green. Whereas, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Realty, Nifty Private Bank, Nifty PSE, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Services were in the green.
Whereas, in the Sensex pack, M&M, Eternal, UltraTech Cement, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Trent, Infosys, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank were in the green. TCS, HUL, Sun Pharma, Power Grid, HDFC Bank, Titan, BEL, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech and ITC were the losers.
Asian markets open with gains
Unlike the Indian stock market, most of the Asian markets are trading at a bullish pace. Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul and Jakarta were in the green. The US market also closed in the green on Wednesday, with Dow Jones up 1.24 percent and technology index Nasdaq up 2.02 percent.
Continuous selling pressure among FIIs
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) are continuously selling. On Wednesday, FIIs sold equities worth Rs 5,834.90 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) invested Rs 6,836.87 crore in equities.
America-Iran war may end soon
America and Iran are continuously talking to end the war. An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tehran would respond, quoted by ISNA news agency. US President Donald Trump said he believes Iran wants a deal.
According to reports, America is demanding Iran to stop its nuclear program and open the Homurz Strait. At the same time, US President Donald Trump said that he is confident that Iran wants an agreement.
