Stock Market Today: 1% jump in early trade, Sensex-Nifty gains in domestic stock markets
Mumbai: Domestic equity markets, Sensex and Nifty, rose nearly 1 per cent in early trade on Thursday, led by gains in public sector banks and auto stocks as global sentiment improved following easing of geopolitical trade tensions and boosted investor sentiment.
The BSE Sensex rose 774.04 points, or 0.94 percent, to 82,683.67 in early trade, while the NSE Nifty gained 233.85 points, or 0.93 percent, to 25,391.35. Among the 30 Sensex companies, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Asian Paints, Bharat Electronics Limited, State Bank of India, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eternal, Trent, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Finserv were the biggest gainers.
On the other hand, ICICI Bank shares fell marginally. Asian markets were mixed. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi rose, while China’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined. US markets had closed with gains on Wednesday.
International benchmark Brent crude oil rose 0.14 percent to $65.33 a barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers on Wednesday, selling shares worth ₹1,787.66 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹4,520.47 crore.
