Stock Market Today: Crude oil price crosses 100 dollars, huge fall in stock market; Sensex fell by more than 500 points
Mumbai. Amidst the increasing geopolitical tension in West Asia, the impact of crude oil prices crossing $100 per barrel was also seen on the domestic stock markets on Friday. In early trade, BSE Sensex fell by 512.07 points to reach 75,869.38 points, while NSE Nifty was seen trading at 23,713.60 points with a fall of 153 points.
Among the 30 Sensex companies, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Bajaj Finance and Trent recorded the biggest decline. After the April-June quarter results, shares of InterGlobe Aviation fell by more than two percent, while shares of IT company Infosys also slipped by more than one percent.
However, amid the falling market, shares of HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Sun Pharma were seen trading with gains. There was a selling environment in Asian markets also. South Korea’s Kospi fell 5.56 percent, while Japan’s Nikkei 225, China’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were also trading with losses. American stock markets also closed with losses on Thursday.
In the international market, the price of Brent crude increased by 0.03 percent to $ 100.7 per barrel. According to market experts, investor sentiment has been affected by the rise in crude oil prices and rising tensions in West Asia. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers on Thursday and sold shares worth Rs 2,999.23 crore. Earlier on Thursday also, Sensex had closed with a fall of 0.47 percent and Nifty had closed with a fall of 0.53 percent.
