Stock Market Today: Mixed trend in Asian markets, markets opened with fluctuations in Sensex and Nifty after weak start.
Mumbai. Amid mixed trends in global markets, Sensex and Nifty made a weak start on Monday, however, soon there were fluctuations in the market due to minor buying by investors. BSE Sensex fell 349.81 points or 0.42 per cent to 82,276.95 in early trade while NSE Nifty slipped 98.4 points to 25,372.70. Later, there were ups and downs in both the majors. The 30-share Sensex rose 136.04 points to 82,762.80, while the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 51.15 points to 25,522.25.
Among the companies included in the Sensex, shares of PowerGrid, HDFC Bank, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Eternal, HCL Technologies, ITC, Trent, Asian Paints and Tata Steel were among the gainers. On the other hand, shares of Infosys, Adani Ports, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Titan, UltraTech Cement, ICICI Bank and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) were among the losers.
Asian markets were mixed, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rising 0.4 percent while Japan’s Nikkei 225 remained flat. Markets in China and South Korea were closed for Lunar New Year holidays. US stock markets closed with mixed sentiment on Friday. The price of international standard Brent crude stood at $ 67.78 per barrel with an increase of 0.04 percent. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sellers on Friday and sold shares worth Rs 7,395.41 crore. Whereas domestic institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 5,553.96 crore.
