Stock Market Today: Selling by foreign investors continues, Sensex fell 183 points in early trade, Nifty suffered loss.
Mumbai. Major stock indices Sensex and Nifty declined in early trade on Friday as selling by foreign investors continued. Investor sentiment remained weak due to low trading and absence of any major domestic cues.
During this period, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell by 183.42 points to 85,225.28. On the other hand, the 50-share NSE Nifty was down 46.45 points at 26,095.65. Among Sensex companies, Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma, Eternal, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services and Bharti Airtel declined significantly. On the other hand, Bharat Electronics, Titan, Infosys and UltraTech Cement were among the gainers.
According to stock market data, on Wednesday, foreign institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 1,721.26 crore, while domestic institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 2,381.34 crore. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.11 percent to US$62.31 per barrel.
