Stocks fail to extend 4-session gaining streak

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell 0.28% to 1,246.09 points Tuesday after four sessions in the green.
The index closed 3.46 points lower after gaining 0.44 points Monday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 15% to VND11.48 trillion (US$454 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 16 tickers fell.
POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation dropped 1.7%, followed by HDB of HDBank with a 1.5% decline.
TPB of private TPBank declined by 1.2% and GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group closed 1% lower.
Five blue chips gained, led by SSB of SeABank with a 2.5% increase.
MSN of conglomerate Masan Group and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World gained both gained 0.3%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND166 billion, mainly selling CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank and FRT of FPT Digital Retail.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.16%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.01%.
