Stomach irritation and loss of sleep? Are you also taking an overdose of tea in winter? – ..

News India Live, Digital Desk: It is winter season, cold wind is blowing outside and there is a cup of hot tea with ginger and cardamom in hand… Brother, there can hardly be any greater ‘pleasure’ than this for us Indians. Many of us do not wake up until the aroma of tea comes. And in winter this “tea-love” doubles. Sometimes in the name of warding off cold and sometimes in the name of laziness, we don’t even realize when our 4-5 cups are consumed in a day.

But friends, wait! Have you ever wondered what kind of game the tea, which you consider to be your companion for cold, is playing with your body inside? Too much of anything is bad, and this also applies to our beloved ‘tea’. Let us understand in simple language how drinking too much tea in winter can make you ill.

1. Acidity formation in the stomach
You must have often felt that during winters you feel flatulence or heartburn. We think that he might have eaten some heavy food. But, the real reason for this could also be your tea addiction. Drinking tea on an empty stomach or drinking it repeatedly increases the amount of acid in the stomach. This causes problems like gas, sour belching and poor digestion.

2. Less water and more tea = dehydration
Sounds strange, right? Tea is liquid, so why is there shortage of water? Actually, tea contains ‘caffeine’, which removes water from the body (Diuretic nature). In winter, we feel less thirsty and drink less water. On top of that, when we repeatedly drink tea instead of water, the body starts drying up from inside. Due to this, your skin also becomes dry and lifeless and headache persists.

3. Makes you sleepy
Winter nights are long, and we snuggle under the quilt and sip tea while working late into the night. The caffeine present in tea keeps your brain awake, which messes up your sleep cycle. Then even after lying down on the bed, one has to keep tossing and turning for hours. Lack of sleep causes irritability and fatigue the next day.

4. Difficulty in digesting food and iron deficiency
This is a very important thing which most people do not know. Tea contains an element called ‘Tannin’. If you drink tea immediately after eating food (which is our habit), then it does not allow the iron and other nutrients present in the food to be absorbed into the body. That means you are eating healthy food, but tea is killing its benefits. This may cause weakness and anemia in the body.

Should I stop drinking tea?
no way! Tea is our love, it is not so easy to leave it. Just be a little careful.

  • Do not drink more than 2-3 cups throughout the day.
  • Drink lukewarm water instead of tea on an empty stomach.
  • Avoid tea immediately after eating.
  • Avoid drinking tea too late in the evening so that you can get good sleep.
