Stop comparing Rishabh Pant with MS Dhoni: Ex-Pakistan player makes blunt statement

Rishabh Pant is often compared with MS Dhoni by former India players. Aakash Chopra is one of the prominent names who has been speaking about the two. However, Basit Ali is against any such comparisons.

Pant scored a hundred in the second innings of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, with the India National Cricket Team winning the contest by 280 runs.

With his sixth Test century, Pant equalled MS Dhoni’s record for most hundreds by an Indian wicket-keeper.

“Forgive me but MS Dhoni was a legend and he led India to success in World Cups and Champions Trophy. Let Rishbah Pant focus on his game. He is doing good but there is no need for such comparision. Will you compare Shubman Gill with Virat Kohli?” Basit Ali said.

In 90 Tests, Dhoni scored 4876 runs at an average of 38.06 with six tons and thirty-three fifties. He took 256 catches and recorded 38 stumpings.

Rishabh has accumulated 2419 runs at an average of 44.79 with six hundreds and 11 fifties in 34 Tests. The 26-year-old has taken 120 catches and has been a part of 14 stumpings.

Pant will now be seen in action during the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, staring September 27.
