BCCI Vice President Shukla, while talking to a news group, reacted to the canceled match in Lucknow. During this, Shukla acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and pointed towards reconsidering the policy. “BCCI will have to rethink the winter scheduling and stop matches in North India,” he said. He further said, “Air pollution can no longer be treated as a routine problem. It is an emergency and should be treated as such.” Let us tell you that the T20I match between India and South Africa was scheduled to start at 7 pm in Lucknow, but after six inspections it was finally canceled at 9:30 pm. However, it became clear long ago that the situation would worsen as the evening progressed.

According to reports, the level of Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lucknow on Wednesday evening was above 400, which falls in the ‘hazardous’ category, which clearly shows concern. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was seen wearing a surgical mask during the warm-up, the picture of which quickly went viral.
