Strict instructions to traffic police in Maharashtra: If force is used to collect e-challan, action will be taken

After complaints surfaced regarding the behavior of traffic police in Maharashtra, the government has taken strict steps. State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik Taking the complaints of transport organizations seriously, it has given clear instructions to the officials that no coercion should be used to collect e-challan from the drivers.

In fact, various transport organizations of the state had announced a proposed nationwide strike on March 5, 2026. Keeping this possible agitation in mind, the Transport Department became alert and Minister Pratap Sarnaik organized an important meeting with the representatives of the concerned organizations. In the meeting, issues related to the transport sector were discussed and efforts were made to find solutions to the problems.

During the meeting, transport organizations made many serious allegations regarding the behavior of the traffic police. Organizations said that at some places the fine for e-challan is forcefully collected from the drivers. Apart from this, complaints of illegally demanding money and rude behavior with drivers also came to light.

Seeing these complaints, higher officials of the traffic department took immediate action. The Additional Director General of Police, Traffic Department of the state has issued a circular to the Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts. Clear instructions have been given in this circular that no driver should be pressurized for recovery of e-challan.

It has also been said that traffic police officers and employees should behave politely and respectfully with the drivers. If any policeman violates these instructions or is found involved in illegal recovery, departmental action will be taken against him.

The government believes that such instructions will improve the functioning of the traffic police and create a positive image of the police among the public. Besides, drivers will also get fair and respectful treatment.

Meanwhile, another important decision has been taken to keep the traffic system smooth in Mumbai. in the city Mumbai Metro Line 3 In view of the traffic problem around the stations, a 24-hour no-parking zone has been declared within a radius of 30 meters. It is being told that the passengers were facing a lot of trouble due to parking of vehicles near the entrance of the metro stations.

This line of Mumbai Metro is approximately 33.5 kilometers long and includes a total of 27 stations. In such a situation, the traffic department has taken this step to keep the traffic smooth around the stations.

The government and administration say that these new instructions will not only bring transparency in the working style of the traffic police, but will also improve road safety and traffic system. In the coming time, it is expected that such steps will lead to better coordination between the drivers and the administration.
