Strict orders and guidelines issued for ‘teachers’ in UP

Prayagraj. Instructions have been issued regarding the presence of teachers in primary schools run by the Social Welfare Department in Uttar Pradesh. Digital system will be implemented in the schools of the state, through which teachers’ attendance will now be recorded online.

Department issued instructions

On behalf of the Director of Social Welfare Department, Sanjeev Singh, a letter has been sent to all the district social welfare officers and instructions have been given to implement this system. The letter states that the school management will have to arrange for necessary devices and mobile phones to ensure online attendance. However, the cost of software for this digital system will be borne by the department.

Dissatisfaction with school management

After this order, the management of many schools have expressed dissatisfaction. He says that the financial condition of many schools is already weak. In many places, there are difficulties in paying even the electricity bill. Managers say that when schools are not getting adequate support for children’s basic needs like uniforms, shoes, socks and bags, it is not practical to put pressure on them to buy additional equipment.

You will get one hour’s time

Under the new system, teachers will be given one hour from the start of school to register biometric or digital attendance. If attendance is not recorded within the stipulated time the system will automatically lock. Where there is network problem, attendance will be recorded in offline mode. Later when internet is available this data will be updated in the online system.

Principal will be responsible

It will be the responsibility of the school headmaster to register online attendance. If for some reason the headmaster is unable to do this work, then he will have to give his charge to another teacher, who will take over this responsibility.

The system did not start despite the order

Although instructions were given by the department to implement the online attendance system by January 31, even after more than three weeks have passed, the old system is still running in most of the schools. Teachers’ attendance register is still being recorded in schools. The department had even warned of withholding salaries if the system was not implemented on time, but despite this, many school managements do not seem ready to implement this order.
