Strict orders for ’employees’ in Bihar, everyone should know!
Patna. Bihar government has implemented new and strict rules for government employees regarding social media and digital activities. The purpose of these rules is said to be to maintain administrative discipline and protect the confidentiality related to government systems. However, this decision has also sparked a new debate among employees regarding digital freedom.
What changed in the new rules?
Under the new ‘Government Servants Conduct Rules 2026’, now Bihar government employees will not be able to publicly share personal opinions on government policies, schemes or administrative decisions on social media. Not only this, commenting on the decisions of the courts will also now come under the purview of the rules and can be considered as indiscipline.
Increased strictness on social media
According to the new order, social media usage of employees will be strictly monitored. Now no government employee will be able to indicate any political opinion or opposition through his profile picture or DP. Putting up a symbol in support of any party or organization will also be considered a violation of the rules.
Ban on trolling and online
It has also been made clear in the rules that no employee can troll or harass any person online. Immediate disciplinary action will be taken against indecent remarks or any kind of cyber misconduct against women. Additionally, taking photographs of government documents or sharing confidential information is strictly prohibited.
control over digital activities
Government employees will now have to obtain departmental permission before participating in any digital program or online activity. Any social media activity or participation on a public digital platform without permission will be considered a serious violation.
Focus on discipline and confidentiality
The government says that this step is necessary to strengthen administrative discipline and government secrecy. These rules have been implemented in view of the possibility of spread of misinformation and leakage of sensitive data on digital platforms.
