Jodhpur: Very tight security arrangements were seen during the medical entrance examination NEET-UG 2026 held on Sunday in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. About 15 thousand candidates took the examination at 46 examination centers in the city. During this period, before entering the examination centres, the candidates were thoroughly examined, in which they were allowed to enter only after removing their dupatta, kalava (religious thread tied on the hand) and other personal items.
This strictness was imposed on the examination centers with the aim of preventing cheating and use of unfair means, but it also caused inconvenience to many students.
Parents waited outside the examination centers for three hours
The parents accompanying the candidates also had to wait for a long time during the examination. Since morning, a large number of parents were seen sitting outside the examination centers in the shade of trees and in the surrounding areas. Many parents waited for about three hours for their children’s exams to finish.
This wait amidst the heat and crowd proved to be challenging for them, but they remained firm in the hope of a better future for their children.
The admission process was very strict, investigation was done in several stages.
The admission process was multi-tier at many examination centers including the Government Higher Secondary School located in Shastri Nagar. The candidates were first subjected to document verification, then physical checking and only then were allowed entry into the examination hall.
During this, the security personnel ensured that no electronic device like mobile phone, smart watch, Bluetooth device, pen or water bottle could be taken inside the examination room.
Rules also applied to religious symbols and objects
At some examination centres, the situation of making candidates remove Kalava and other religious threads was seen. Similarly, many girl students were given entry after removing their dupatta. The purpose of this strictness is said to be to maintain the fairness of the examination, however, it received mixed reactions from the candidates and parents.
