Strictness on brick kilns in Bihar: Those who do not pay tax will be investigated, orders for recovery

Patna. The Mines and Geology Department has adopted a strict stance regarding the brick kilns operating in Bihar. Recently, in the review meeting of the department, it came to light that a large number of brick kiln operators have not deposited the tax on time. Considering this situation as serious, the department has issued instructions to the district officials to investigate and recover the outstanding tax.

More than six thousand brick kilns operate in the state

According to departmental information, currently more than six thousand brick kilns are operating in Bihar. However, very few of these kilns have deposited the full tax to the government on time. According to the data, only about 3200 brick kilns have paid the full tax, while about 2800 brick kilns have not yet deposited the tax. Due to this, the state government is expected to suffer huge loss in the form of revenue.

Strict instructions given to officials

Taking this matter seriously, the Mines and Geology Department has directed the mine inspectors and mining development officers of the districts to immediately investigate the brick kilns which are not paying tax. Officials have been asked to visit their respective areas to inspect the kilns and collect information about their activities, so that the actual situation can be ascertained.

Documents will also be examined

During the inspection, not only the condition of the kilns will be observed, but all the necessary documents related to their operation will also be examined. With this, it will be ascertained whether the kiln operators are violating the rules or are operating without permission.

List of non-tax payers

The department has clarified that a separate list will be prepared after identifying the brick kilns which have not yet deposited the tax. For this, regional officers have been asked to conduct physical inspection and collect complete information.

Report sought by March 15

Officials have also been given a deadline to complete the entire investigation process quickly. The department has directed that after the inspection, a detailed report should be sent to the department by March 15, so that further action can be decided. The department says that the government is suffering financial loss due to not depositing taxes on time. Therefore, strict steps will be taken to recover the outstanding tax from the kilns.
